What You Really Need For Brand Photos

June 5, 2024

When you google, “brand photography”, the first thing that comes up is most likely going to be…

a whole lot of people clutching a coffee cup or smiling down at a laptop.

And okay, we’re not here to bag on those images…

That’s not it at all. We are here to say this:

They are absolutely missing something.

Brand photography isn’t about providing a static stock image of you + your product + an activity. That generic approach is just that. Generic.

Brand photography is about creating a bridge between what you’re offering as a business and your audience. It’s about creating those key connection pieces to not just one whole huge audience, but THE audience you want to reach. and WHY you want to reach them with certain clarity.

There’s nothing generic about that.

Because anyone can rent a studio space or airbnb in Milwaukee, pop you on a couch, and instruct you to, “lightly smile towards the wall while pretending to type”…but, what about that image brings us back to the intent of your brand session?

At face value, nothing. It’s just another cleverly titled image that populates google with a muddy message.

We can do better. You, are better than that.

So let’s make it better, shall we? You can absolutely bring the drink of choice and your laptop but how about we do this:

The planner shot, elevated with all sorts of Easter Eggs you know are gonna hit home. Those intentional details make the difference.

Grab three of your fav sips. Everyone knows we need one for hydration, one for caffeination, and one for fun. Don’t stop there, bring your color matched Stanley or favorite teacup that makes you feel like you’re on an episode of Bridgerton.

Your phone…but better. That custom case with hidden Disney characters on it? Um, yes please! Now we’re talking to your people.

Infusing your brand color palette? Love it, but we can kick it up a notch by using your colors in an outfit + backdrop + location + props for the type of curated cohesion you’ve been itching for.

Let me tag along for a day in the life featuring you as the leading lady on your small business vision quest. Why wouldn’t we romanticize the every day if you’re an interior designer helping people do the same for their homes? And if you think this is JUST for interior designers, it isn’t.

Look outside of your industry, that’s where the magic happens. What would happen if we romanticized your every day and brought your audience along for the ride?

Launching a new signature scent + documenting the creation process = an excellent start…but if that’s where we stop, we’re stopping short. Let’s go a level deeper and showcase how that scent appeals to the people you want to serve. How they use it. How it might show up in their lives.

Infusing bites of your brand is how we go from, “oh, that’s cute!” to “okay, now that connects. Those connection points from the entirety of your brand, is what converts.

Just like any photographer can rent a space, take photos, swap props in and out, any business coach can jump on a call and say their script. Any yoga instructor can cue for a pose to a class of students. Any author can self publish a book if they choose.

Anyone in their area of expertise can simply show up, but what makes them different is how they DO what they do, and how clear their message lands when they do it.

And how we do it around here? We make sure that message connects crystal clear, baby.
