I'm really glad
We went from this hot mess to…
THIS!!
We ACTUALLY PURCHASED a table from the basic exchange on base. SO NOW WE HAVE A PLACE TO EAT! I’m overjoyed by this purchase and will be blabbing about it for weeks.
I digress. The kitchen. Just looking at the before pictures makes my nails and back ache. Why nails? Because I used them to peel off the previous wallpaper. Should have used them to scratch my eyes out instead…
This project took us about six days. We first used this stupid thing called a paper tiger to perforate the wallpaper. That was stupid. It ate up the wall. Then we sprayed the wallpaper remover stuff. That was stupid too. It made our hands itch and got me a lil’ loopy. Then we peeled. And peeled…and peeled some more. We peeled that paper like we were Russians peeling potatoes for our last supper. It. Was. Awful.
THEN. We sanded with sanding blocks. We had no electricity at this point so we couldn’t use the electric sander. Plus it was somewhere in our nasty storage garage. So we sanded until our hands cramped and fell off. Then we primed. Sanded some more. Primed some more. Trimmed. Blahblahblah. After that mess, we painted the kitchen a fun color called “Sandy Feet”. It was a little bit more peach than I thought it would be, but it really grew on me.
With soft lighting it looks like butta. I love it. Almost as much as Paula Deen loves her sticks upon sticks of butter.
